Job Summary Business analysts are responsible for identifying the business needs of their clients and stakeholders, to determine solutions to business problems. As a translator between the users and the IT group, he or she elicits, analyzes, validates and documents business, organizational and/or operational requirements and can help drive organizational change and recommend solutions. The Senior Business Analyst can do complex versions of tasks at hand and can work independently with minimal coaching. The Senior Business Analyst is part of the business analysis team and reports to the Manager of Business Analysis. Responsibilities EDI Expertise: Partners with business teams, EDI support teams, IT teams, and EDI solution providers to support the implementation and/or maintenance of new and/or existing EDI business processes and solutions. Ensures end-to-end business process are fully understood and documented across various business domains in support of existing EDI documents (850, 855, 856 and 810), but could expand as FGL Sports implements additional EDI documents in the future. Maintains EDI standards by working with stakeholders to develop and implement vendor standards, guidelines and training material. Elicit Requirements: Anticipates, quantifies and resolves problems and issues through requirements. Done by the identification of source requirements, risk management, and development of a priority matrix. Create Business Requirements: Document: Publishes, distributes, and ensures sign-off of the business requirements document. Performs impact analysis on requested changes to requirements. Done through risk management, development of a priority matrix, and formal reviews with clients. Structured Analysis: Analyzes and determines problems, opportunities, and solution resolutions. Done through the identification of "as-is" state vs. "to-be" state using a variety of tools and techniques based on the project and its complexity plus facilitation of interviews to help develop a consensus about the requirements. Perform high level and detailed design and planning for complex business requirements spanning multiple business domains and enterprise systems Testing: Monitors user acceptance testing and responses to problems. Done through the creation of a user acceptance strategy to ensure that all business scenarios have been validated and business requirements and their integrity are maintained throughout the execution of the user acceptance test plan. End User Support: Collects and analyzes feedback from end users to create requirements for subsequent releases of the solution. Done through analysis of help desk requests, and reviews of the solution via surveys, interviews, and audits. Business / IT Fluency: Understands the societal impact of information and information technology in the business environment. Done by evaluating and assessing the impact of one solution and product on the rest of the organization. Business Process Analysis: Recommends improvements to business processes. Done by ensuring business goals are met by considering all tangible and intangible costs. Change Agency: Understands process and issues inherent in change management and plans accordingly; instills confidence and trust in others; coordinates resources across departments/units; evaluates measures, project plans and deliverables for alignment; acknowledges individual’s responses to change and helps them adjust. Create Functional Specification Document: Publishes, distributes, and ensures sign-off of the functional specification document. Performs impact analysis on requested design changes and ensures design is aligned to business requirements. Done through consultation with the Solution Architect and Business Subject Matter Experts. Build Business Relationships: Understand the business issues and challenges of the organization and industry. Done by working closely with Business and IT to ensure a strategic partnership between Business needs and Technology solutions. Required Skills and Experience Experience: • 10+ years experience in a relevant industry vertical. (Retail, Wholesale Distribution, CPG, etc.) • 5+ years experience in Business Analysis practice • Familiarity with EDI maps an asset • Proven proficiency / mastery of junior and intermediate Business Analyst competencies • Experience with package (COTS) customization and deployment • Experience with Product Lifecycle, Sales Order, Retail, Supply Chain, Finance, and/or Human Capital management systems is an asset • Experience in Solution Design and Architecture with a proven track in defining and designing integrated solutions for business requirements spanning multiple business domains and enterprise systems is an asset Skills Required: Communication: Ability to formulate concepts; communication of technical information to a non-technical audience; communication of business information to a technical audience. Business: Knowledge of business processes; ability to have a business-oriented vision; case development; business writing; modeling techniques. Analytical: analytical and conceptual expertise; documentation, analysis and business requirements management techniques; object-oriented analysis; evaluation of profitability/risk; testing, verification and validation techniques.
