Intermediate to Snr Oracle DBA (Database Administrator Perm. We are seeking a motivated and well-rounded professional to join our Information Services team based in our Vernon Office. The Database Administrator is responsible for the management, implementation, monitoring, performance, integrity and security of the Oracle database infrastructure. This position requires a capable and versatile professional with a broad background and experience in systems support and database administration. This individual will evaluate existing and emerging technologies, liaise with the other IS teams and business units, and assist in designing and implementing reliable, responsive, secure, and cost effective solutions related to a variety of database environments. In addition, the Database Administrator is responsible for day to day operational tasks such as database performance analysis, incident management, proactive tuning, maintenance, administration and backup and recovery across the database application infrastructure. The Database Administrator reports to the Enterprise Infrastructure, Linux Team Lead. Essential Functions and Accountabilities ? Plans and execute the strategy to stay current on Oracle technology and releases ? Manage and test high availability and disaster recovery solutions ? Troubleshoots, analyzes, prioritizes and helps coordinate the resolution of problems and issues ? Provides tier 2-3 support for database issues and liaises with the IS Service Desk on incidents or service requests ? Coordinates and participates in the implementation of changes, enhancements and upgrades to database infrastructure ? Prepares, maintains and distributes database documentation ? Seeks opportunities to automate or streamline manual tasks ? Proactively tunes all aspects of the database infrastructure to minimize performance issues ? Creates and updates database capacity planning and lifecycle roadmaps to sustain growth and maintain scalability and good performance. ? Researching, and evaluating new databases features, technologies, and trends to provide innovative ideas and solutions in order to improve the existing database infrastructure and support new projects and requirements Other Duties and Responsibilities ? Assists others in the performance of their duties as required ? Adheres to the established processes and procedures within the IS Department ? Establishes and maintains close working relationships with vendors and service providers ? Prepares and delivers informative, well-organized presentations and communications Authority/Supervisory Responsibilities ? Provides mentoring to junior team members as appropriate ? Plans, schedules and coordinates database activities ? May lead database lifecycle upgrade projects Education and Experience ? Post-secondary graduate with a degree, diploma or certificate in computer science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience ? Four or more years? experience working as an Oracle Database Administrator for a medium to large enterprise with complex technology environments ? Four or more years? experience managing Oracle databases in a Linux operating system environment ? Experience in Java programming, Linux administration and Microsoft SQL would be an asset Working Conditions and Environment ? Occasional travel may be required ? Ability to participate in on-call after hours support rotation is required ? Evening and occasional weekend work will be required ? Must have own transportation and a valid BC driver?s license.
