JOB TITLE: Application Support Specialist
REPORTS TO: Senior Manager, Technology
DEPARTMENT: Information Technology

POSITION OVERVIEW
JOB SUMMARY:
The application support specialist provides second level technical support for highly complex production systems which includes specialized software applications and hardware. The specialist will provide permanent solutions and ensures application integrity. Furthermore, the individual role involves providing training for 1st level support staff and to the machine technicians.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Operate, maintain and administrate proprietary and third party software components on site and remotely
? Providing customer technical support and resolving issues promptly
? Working with development team to deliver customer expectations and resolving issues
? Assist in the specification and estimation of projects where appropriate for bid work.
? Monitoring application issues and be proactive in resolving the issues.
? Project manage changes and new deployment
? Ensure that the integrity of applications are maintained by testing, patching and upgrading
? Analyze data in various formats such as binary, HEX, XML and DB
? Program small scripts and write small batch scripts
? Maintain good documentation on production applications, which includes configurations, backup, change history information
? Installation and configuration of Linux,TomCat, Apache and Active MQ
? Troubleshooting server and workstation related application issues, including operating system issues.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILIES:
? Assist in network related activities
? Assist IT support staff with non-application related support tickets
? Configure servers and workstations
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
? Minimum College certification in IT related field
? Minimum 4 years working experience in providing IT application support
? Good knowledge in mobile communication, IT technologies and solutions.
? Excellent written and verbal communication skill in English language.
? Experience in installing and configuring Linux, including networking and user setup
? Experience in Apache, Tomcat, Java applications, nagios and Networking
? Basic knowledge in SQL and Oracle databases
? ITIL knowledge and Active MQ and X509 certifications are nice to have
WORKING CONDITIONS:
? Able to work in a team environment
? Ability for rotational shift between morning and afternoon
? Ability to travel to other subsidiaries overseas
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
? Abe to work flexible hours to conduct maintenance and upgrades
? Able to perform basic networking such as cabling
? Able to carry workstations or computer devices up to 25 lbs
? Able to work standing when troubleshooting production machines
