North American Linux Administrator The North American Linux Administrator is responsible for administering support. Typical daily operations will require the management of computer systems utilized for both In-Office and In-Field processing. Availability between 8am and 5pm, five days a week will be necessary for In-Field operations to access remote Linux support. Travel to the field maybe expected when major systems issues present themselves. In their full capacity, the Linux Administrator manages the current computer systems, plans for growth, develops and implements ideas, as well as proposing hardware and/or software changes with compliance to system standards. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES In-Office Administration ? Manage the hardware and software support need of the internal clients ? Administration duties of the primary operating system Linux and with some PC/Windows configurations ? Networking for the computers and components with the equipment pool ? Coordinating and tracking of equipment both in the field and in the office ? Creates commercial invoices for components for equipment being shipped internationally ? Provide remote field support during business hours Employee Coaching ? Assist in the coaching of processing staff members, with the goal of minimizing support requests and improving users knowledge In-Field Administration ? Will be dispatched to gain an understanding of the working and environmental conditions ? Dispatched to the field sites for any high profile project startup ? Dispatched to the field sites to solve major system issues Communication ? Learn, review and communicate systems standards. ? Plans and implements new software and hardware for Operations Special Activities ? Will travel to to meet with other team members ? Will meet with the IT operations group in the Calgary FUNCTIONAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE ? Broad knowledge and experience with Hardware components and software operating on Linux Operating systems ? An ability to evaluate and optimize PC/Windows based operating systems is required ? Familiar with analytical tools and programs available for solving technical problems ?
