Afilias is looking for an IDN software developer to assist in developing our next generation of registry systems that will allow the continued growth Afilias has seen over the past decade. Ability to quickly grasp language issues, character variants, left to right and right to left writing. ? Ability to follow up and get involved with relevant IETF groups, ICANN policies and other relevant working groups regarding IDN issues. ? Ability to be an IDN expert and liaison for Registry Services. ? Ability to learn new technologies for implementation and able to work in a challenging environment. ? Ability to work under general supervision, develops, codes, tests and debugs new software or enhancements to existing software. ? Ability to think outside the box, enjoy working on difficult problems and creating elegant solutions. ? Minimum Technical Skills: ? Minimum 5 years of overall application development work experience, using JAVA/C/C++/Perl and any standard RDBMS database on Linux/UNIX platforms. ? Minimum 3 years of work experience with software application development using JAVA. ? Familiar with Unicode and IDN. ? Experience with object-oriented programming. ? Experience with XML, JAXB, JAXP. ? Experience with RDBMS database. ? Experience with Perl/Python/Ruby and Shell programming is preferred. ? Understanding of design patterns, software development methodologies, including use-case development; formal UML requirements techniques is a plus. What might differentiate you from the next candidate... ? Have experience with IETF standards. ? Know at least one foreign language, written and spoken ? Have practical experience to working on high volume, high availability, and critical system development in Unix based environments. ? Understand all phases of the systems development life cycle from requirements through testing. ? Have experience with Scrum agile development. ? Have experience with various design patterns. ?
