An exciting and challenging job opportunity is available for a highly experienced Technical Writer, for a well respected and stable software development company. We develop enterprise-level, web-based applications and community portals that streamline information gathering and data management, and support decision-making and reporting processes. It also provides unparalleled customer support and comprehensive eLearning and training tools to optimize applications' usage by the end user audiences. We are looking for a Technical Writer who can quickly grasp technical concepts and develop well-written and structured technical documentation that effectively helps end users to adopt and utilize our web-based software solutions. The Technical Writer is responsible for: Designing, developing, and updating online and print-based technical documentation in support of company products, such as end-user reference guides, online help, and troubleshooting guides. Required Skills: Demonstrated ability to review, analyze, and interpret technical data and document it in a way that is easy for non-technical audiences to read and apply. Mastery of the English language, both oral and written, with the ability to produce error-free deliverables that demonstrate excellent grammar, style, and presentation. English as a first-language is a requirement. Expert skills using Adobe FrameMaker, RoboHelp, and all other Adobe Technical Communication Suite tools. Communication and elicitation skills needed to work with different internal and external stakeholders to review and update supporting documentation to ensure business needs are met. Ability to determine and develop illustration requirements, including the layout of tables and charts. Superior organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy. Required experience: A university degree in English, Communications or a related field. Minimum of 5 years experience in technical communications. Completion of at least 3 projects that involved the development of online support for web-based applications that was designed to engage non-technical end users. Must be able to demonstrate how the materials helped to optimize the utilization of the sites. Direct links to the online help sites must be provided. Nice to have: A Technical Writing Certificate would be considered an asset. Experience using Adobe Captivate to create system simulations and demonstrations. Instructional design and training skills.
