Primary Objective: The main goal of the Business Analyst is to ensure that all projects deliver material benefits to the business. The position is responsible for defining and owning requirements through each phase of the project life cycle and the software development life cycle. This will include definition of problem statements, use cases, user personas, functional requirements specifications, non-functional requirements, UML class diagrams, test cases and user documentation in addition to process models and work flow deliverables. The position spans a mix of projects including commercial software and data products, internal productivity applications and transformation of professional services lines of business. Date Position Available: ASAP Key Responsibilities: ?On a project by project basis, work with stakeholders across business units and corporate departments to document current state business process architecture by product/service line. In the case of commercial software and data products, this involves documenting business processes for current and potential customers by market segment and customer type. ?Based on business process architecture analysis, work with business stakeholders to understand the use of data in their business to identify multiple opportunities to repurpose this data for new commercial data products and services. ?As a Business Analyst on projects, consistently deliver project requirements deliverables to plan (on time, on budget, consistent with quality framework). Utilize creative elicitation techniques to extract and validate requirements quickly to compress timelines on requirements phases of projects. ?For each project, work with internal stakeholders including Product Management to create clear, detailed requirements documentation based on research and analysis. Technical & Behavioral Competencies: ?Strong business analysis methodologies including: requirements elicitation and validation, requirements management, requirements analysis, enterprise analysis and solution assessment and validation. ?Familiarity with a wide range of meeting facilitation techniques to effectively elicit requirements during Working Sessions with Stakeholders. ?Ability to apply Process Improvement methodologies to identify high value opportunities to transform business processes (Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma, TQM, Value Stream Mapping, Business Process Management, or Capability Maturity Model Integration). ?Ability to develop and explain UML diagrams including: Class Diagrams, Object Diagrams, Activity Diagrams, Use Case Diagrams, State Machine Diagrams. ?Familiarity with organizational change management principles and practices to mitigate risks of business transformation projects and ensure project value is realized. ?High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts. ?Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to build positive relationships with stakeholders, end users and members of a project team. Diplomacy, judgment, and persuasion skills are required to educate and align the many personalities involved in complex projects. ?Able to quickly develop rapport with users and project stakeholders to collect complete and accurate information. ?Creative and innovative thinker who can clearly articulate ideas at an executive level while still maintaining a strong grasp on the details. ?Ability to self-manage tasks and deliverables, follow through on commitments and complete overlapping projects. Education/Professional Development/Work Experience Requirements: ?Educational background that includes Business degree or a Computer Science degree combined with business process improvement experience. ?Familiarity with Design Thinking, Business Model Design or Strategy Development Frameworks (i.e. Porter, Blue Ocean etc.) is an asset. ?Knowledge of commercial real estate valuation investment and management including best practices, industry trends, and market segment processes is an asset ?3+ years of business analysis/systems analysis/business process improvement experience is expected. Start-up experience is an asset. ?Experience with software development projects is expected. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies is an asset.
