Scotiabank's International Banking (IB) Systems Technology group is seeking a Senior Administrator, AIX and Middleware to join their growing team on a 10 months contract.  The IB Systems Architecture (SA) department is responsible for systems architecture design, systems implementation, 3rd level systems support services and project management for four major Scotiabank platforms (AIX, AS/400, Wintel and Citrix). As a member of the team, your primary focus will be on providing effective and efficient support services for AIX, IBM DB2, and various IBM middleware systems.  You will be required to log and track problems and solutions in order to offer continuous improvement to the support process.  In this capacity you will also be required to document any required system changes and execute the changes with strict adherence to the established change management procedure. A secondary responsibility of this position is in providing technical expertise to various projects as assigned by the AIX Team Lead for incoming requests by the Projects team.  In this capacity you will be responsible for assessing technical designs, creating technical project documentation including process flows, detailed specifications and documents related to the established change management process.  As a contributing member in project teams you will ensure that all projects are completed thoroughly, accurately and in a timely manor while adding increased value through creative and cost-efficient solution design. In all facets of this position you will be required to conduct yourself with the highest level of professionalism while demonstrating a dedicated work-ethic with customer service excellence as your goal. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: ·         Complete daily/weekly server health checks and security checks. ·         Interact daily with Global Service Desk ('help desk') and PSINTP (Production Scheduling and Operations team). ·         Become familiar with Scotiabank standard server hardening and assist with internal Audit assessments and providing timely responses. ·         Provide technical consulting/advisory within team and outside team as required. ·         Work efficiently in project teams meeting all targets and deliverables. ·         Proactively researching relevant technologies in order to keep current with latest industry trends, best practices and Information Technology 'Road Maps'. ·         Share in after-hours support duties (planned and unplanned including rotating pager support duty). QUALIFICATIONS : ·         2+ years experience and practical knowledge of AIX 5.3 and 6.1 (experience with PowerHA an asset). ·         1+ year experience with WPS a must (Websphere Process Server administration and support). ·         Knowledge of and experience with at least one of the following: IBM Websphere Application Server (WAS v6.1 and newer) and/or IBM MQ Series v6 and newer (min 1 year experience with at least one). ·         Experience with troubleshooting and problem determination of AIX and associated DB and middleware systems.  Rrimarily DB2, WAS, and MQ with minimum 2 years in a production environment. ·         Hands-on experience in general UNIX administration and UNIX performance tuning and capacity management, shell/Perl scripting is a definite asset. ·         In-depth experience with and knowledge of DB2 v9.7 (experience with DB2 HADR is desirable); Web Services and SOA are definite assets. ·          Ability to work confidently and proficiently with production systems at a highly technical and complex level. ·         Ability to work effectively with cross-functional project teams. ·         Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with different audiences (senior management, internal business clients, external vendors). EDUCATION AND ACCREDITATIONS: ·         Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent working experience.
