Supporting and documenting heterogeneous databases for a retail environment with over 600 points of sale, including web, OLTP, and data warehouse solutions. Responsibilities The successful candidate will have practical knowledge with one or more leading database technologies. The database administrator will install, configure and manage databases. Tasks will include account management, backup & recovery, pro-active system monitoring, performance tuning, pre-emptive tasks to ensure high availability, develop, review and deploy code modules. This individual will also be involved in identifying failure modes to assist in timely remediation of service disruptions, investigation and follow up on root cause analysis to prevent future disruptions and participation in a 24x7 on call rotation is also a requirement of this position. REQUIREMENTS :     Seven plus years with Oracle and Microsoft databases showing increasing responsibilities in the area of database administration.     RDBMS installation, patching and configuration experience.     Backup & recovery procedures & methods using RMAN and CommVault.     Stored procedure development (PL/SQL and TSQL)     Materialized Views, Database Links     Full refresh of databases via Snapshot technology     Fine Grained Access Controls (VPD)     XMLDB, Database Encryption     Database security and hardening     Database performance tuning and monitoring     SQL Server Management Studio     Indexing, partitioning, hints and optimizers     Active/passive and active/active clustering     Oracle Grid Control, Toad, Foglight, Orion     IT Infrastructure Library guidelines     Practical knowledge of Database Communication Protocols     Practical knowledge of Unix & Windows Operating Systems     Strong Communication skills and customer service orientation     Team player     Work effectively in UNIX, Linux and Windows environments.     Unix shell and expect script development     Proficient with Windows schedulers and UNIX crontabs.     Good oral and written presentation skills     Project management skills     Mentorship of team members Desired behaviors • Builds Trust and Credibility by consistently adhering to the organization’s business principles and values.
