The International Banking Systems (IBS) Development group supports the automation of branches and subsidiaries in the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Asia Pacific regions. Multiple technology platforms are used, including IBM AS/400’s running the ScotiaGlobe core Retail Banking system, and the Microsoft Windows platform running the Branch Sales and Service applications (Counselor CRM, Application Processing and Teller Platform).  A Middleware application (SOA and Broker) running on AIX Websphere platform is used to interface with many Alternate Delivery Channel applications (such as Telephone Banking, Internet Banking, ABM etc.) and External Vendor applications (such as StrategyWare Credit Decision Engine, Credit Card service provider FDR, Trans Union Credit Bureau etc.). The Senior Programmer/Analyst, International Banking Systems - Credit, will participate in the development and support of the java based Credit systems, which are written in J2EE utilizing JSF/SOA architectures and runs on Websphere in an AIX environment. The incumbent will participate in the development and support of the International Banking Platform Credit application which allows branch officers to set up, maintain, adjudicate and approve credit applications for Consumer Loans and Credit Cards products. The incumbent will actively participate in all phases of the systems development life cycle, working in a multidisciplinary development project team environment including IBS and external vendors. The incumbent will report to the Manager/Project Leader of the International Banking Systems - Credit Development team.. Accountabilities ·         Development, maintenance and support of the IBP Credit applications including documentation. ·         Assist in the definition of user requirements. ·         Analyze business requirements, understanding the impact, taking into consideration interfaces with current systems, technical hardware, software, and network infrastructure, provide alternatives for the satisfaction of the requirements and assist in the documentation of business requirements. ·         Participate in the design, development, and testing activities within the Websphere and Windows development environments. ·         Participate in the preparation of design document, test plan, tests specifications and operations manuals. ·         Evaluate production logs and System Service Requests (SSRs) of moderate to high complexity and identifies actions to be taken. ·         Provide production support to international data centers and branches including after hours pager support and occasional travel for release implementation and on site production support. ·         Provides technical advice and council to Associate Programmer Analysts and senior management, as required. ·         Liaison with other organization or Company’s technical support staff in order to support effectively assigned applications as well as for exchange of techniques, approaches and trends in application development. Competencies     Computer Degree or equivalent     At least 4-8 years of systems development experience preferably on: -          The Websphere J2EE platform with JSF web development technical skills including Java Script, Java, XML, XSL, and DB2. -          MS Windows platform with ASP, ASP.Net, C#, Java Script and SQL Server     Have a background in the development, maintenance and support of applications with some of the following technical skills: -          XML, XSL -          MS IIS -          AIX DB2 -          IBM MQSeries     Working knowledge of Retail Banking systems particularly related to Consumer Loans, Commercial Loans, Credit Card applications would be an asset.     Experience working with offshore development vendors would be an asset     Experience with mobile computing development for the iOS platform would be an asset.     Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, analytical and problem resolution skills.     Self-initiated, fast learner with a positive attitude.     Excellent verbal and written communication and people skills     Fluency in Spanish would be an asset for the Incumbent.   Scotiabank is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from all interested parties.
