Senior SQL Server DBA Job Description This is a key position requiring a creative person with a very strong technical background, proven leadership abilities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidates must be self-confident, work with minimal direction and supervision and have the necessary expertise to manage enterprise solutions on SQL Server 2008, 2005 & 2000 in a dynamic multi server environment. 10+ years DBA experience is mandatory, with at least 5 years on Microsoft technologies. Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Very strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration of large, busy systems. Proven expertise in database security: principles, procedures, and best practices. Experience with data integration and strong understanding of the methodologies. Expert knowledge in Microsoft SQL Server database engine; Integration, Analysis & Reporting Services; replication & mirroring. Fluent English and ability to communicate well with both business users and peers. Strong analytical ability with emphasis on recognizing automation opportunities as well as detecting and resolving systematic problems. Demonstrated knowledge of relational and multi-dimensional data design and development techniques and data modeling concepts and best practices. Experience with SAN/NAS storage as well as clustering. Dedicated to delivering high quality work under strict deadlines. Sense of ownership and accountability. Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks & self discipline to maintain an up-to-date clear list of his/her priorities. Excellent observation, assessment and analytical skills. Definitely an asset: Experience with extracting data from non-relational data sources. Knowledge of PCI DSS compliance & certification. Experience with server virtualization. Responsibilities: Deployment, monitoring, support and maintenance of MS SQL servers, Analysis Services and other database and data warehouse processes. Performance tuning and optimization of the development, test and production environments. Establish and maintain appropriate database access level in accordance with corporate security standards Manage multiple databases in various versions of SQL Server. Maintain existing and develop new Analysis Services cubes. Collaborate with other team members to design and construct new database solutions. Research, analyze, document and resolve database access and performance issues in an independent and timely manner. Create and manage database backups and disaster recovery solutions.
