ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS SPECIALIST (Microsoft Great Plains) Headquartered in Baker Lake, our Energy Corporation is committed to supplying safe, reliable and efficient energy to the citizens of Nunavut. We generate electricity and research alternative energy options in order to meet the long- term needs for power of all Nunavummiut. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology (IT), the Enterprise Systems Specialist will manage, monitor and support all enterprise software systems and related databases. Applying proven communication and problem- solving skills, the Enterprise Systems Specialist will deliver support and training to, and develop best practices for, internal customers and business units to ensure the efficient use of enterprise software systems in fulfilling business objectives, as well as guide and support internal customers on all issues related to enterprise software and related systems. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: • Directing, evaluating, maintaining, reviewing and managing corporate database resources and services across the organization to ensure the highest level of data quality; • Developing, implementing and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and continuity of corporate databases and their accompanying software; • Keeping detailed, accurate records of enterprise software systems setup, structure and security; • Ensuring up-to- date documentation on all enterprise software systems policies, procedures and processes; • Submitting reports on maintenance, upgrades and/or outages as it pertains to enterprise software systems; • Developing requirements and schedules for enterprise software system initiatives; • Providing project design and management of all new enterprise software system initiatives; • Providing day-to- day support to internal customers on the use of all enterprise software systems; • Providing security and data audits of all enterprise software systems; • Developing reports for internal customers from data within the enterprise software systems; • Scheduling and performing systems upgrades; • Implementing new functionality and/or software systems; • Analyzing customer requirements for reports, forms, queries and data extraction; • Providing end- user training on the effective, efficient use of enterprise systems, databases and resources; and • Developing long- term goals for enterprise software systems in conjunction with data owners and department managers; REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE: • Post-secondary training in the Information Technology field equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least 3 years of experience in a software system specialist, administrator or analyst position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; • At least 3 years of experience working with Microsoft Great Plains at a systems level; • Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles and practices; • Broad knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices; • Technical experience in designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting Microsoft SQL database servers; • Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience; • Strong understanding of finance and payroll functions; • Above average interpersonal and both written and oral communication skills; • Strong technical documentation skills; • Ability to present ideas in user- friendly language. • Keen attention to detail; • Proven analytical and problem- solving abilities; • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment; • Strong customer service orientation; and • Experience working in a team- oriented, collaborative environment. DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE INCLUDE: • Diamond Municipal Software or other utility billing software experience; • Prophix corporate performance management software experience; • Document management experience; and • Experience working in remote/isolated Northern/Aborigina l communities.
