The Senior Manager, Reporting & Regulatory Analytics contributes to the management of credit risk for domestic personal lending and small business products by overseeing the reporting function and leading regulatory analytics efforts. The incumbent manages a group of senior technical analytical experts.  He/she is responsible for the provision of analytical and trend based risk management executive, management, and operational reporting packages across the account life cycle (origination, portfolio management, and collection).  He/she is responsible for the timely delivery of a suite of existing reports and the development of new, insightful reports as required. He/she leads efforts regarding regulatory information.  In addition to ongoing reporting, this includes various ad hoc analyses and data calls that come from the regulators and other stakeholders. The incumbent also takes a leading role in various special projects e.g., risk data mart, new system implementations. Key Accountabilities 1. Ensure the design, development, maintenance and production of a detailed reporting package for senior management showing key risk indicators and performance of acquisition and portfolio management strategies by: Reviewing/approving analyses/recommendations/reports prepared by staff Ensuring reports are professionally presented and produced in an accurate and timely fashion Developing new and enhancements to reports Determining the best data compilation methods Developing and establishing new data sources Ensuring consistency of definitions across reports   2. Provide regulatory reporting and analytics by: Responding to requests for analyses, reports and data from OSFI Overseeing the development of new regulatory reports Ensuring the accuracy and timely production and delivery of the regulatory reports 3. Oversee the execution of ad hoc reporting requests in an accurate and timely fashion by: Responding to requests from other Risk Management units, field units and E.O. Departments Meeting with clients to understand information needs Reviewing initiatives requests to determine timeframe and allocation of resources Ensuring initiatives are properly prioritized Effectively communicating the scope and anticipated outcomes and deliverables to staff Directing and coordinating key activities to ensure all client requests are met Reviewing/approving analyses/recommendations and discussing results with clients where required 4. Lead special projects from a reporting and analytics perspective by: Ensuring compliance with End User Computing guidelines and other data-related requirements Improving the reporting methodology and identifying streamlining opportunities Validating data for new systems e.g., credit risk data mart, Originations Manager Increasing efficiency through automation of reports, involving EDW and other partners as appropriate Redesigning reporting as appropriate Participating in fraud and other investigations as required   5. Provide strong leadership to direct reports to motivate both individual and team performance and foster a commitment to One Team/One Goal. Recruit high potential candidates and develop staff by sharing knowledge/experience and provide opportunities for staff to share responsibility for achieving business objectives/goal REQUIREMENTS: 5+ years of SAS programming experience Demonstrated experience with databases, query structure, data structure and data extraction Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline, such as statistics, economics, mathematics, computer science and engineering. Advanced Excel skills Advanced knowledge of risk management best practices Solid understanding of personal and small business credit products and associated policies and procedures Working knowledge of Credit Risk Management systems (SAM, Originations Manager, Scotiaworx, Probe, Credit Review System, Collections, Provisions) Efficient and flexible as work is conducted under tight deadlines and conflicting priorities Scotiabank is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from all interested parties.
