On behalf of my client, Globaltech Recruiting Inc Vancouver is looking for: POSITION SUMMARY This is an Intermediate level development position with a focus on maintaining and developing custom applications and integrations that are essential for the smooth operation of my client's enterprise.  In this role and as a member of the Software Development and Integration Team, you will connect business processes by developing custom system integrations and building strategic software solutions that leverage the domain knowledge. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES  Essential functions and responsibilities include: •    Develop software as per specifications and in accordance to coding standards •    Build test scenarios and perform unit and integration testing •    Debug and remedy software problems •    Analyze and evaluate new applications or changes to existing applications and submit recommendations for approval •    Prepare detailed program specifications and other technical documentation as required •    Tier III application support of applications and/or technologies •    On-call (after hours support) •    Deployment support •    Contribute to detailed design documents and functional system specifications •    Perform independent research and analysis for potential solutions to business issues •    Determine the feasibility of a systems solution and identify the general kinds of system solutions that are appropriate •    Assist in decision making for design changes •    Assist and mentor others in a team or on a project •    Assist in analyzing the costs, benefits, risks and ROI of system changes QUALIFICATIONS •    Four or more years' developer experience working for medium to large enterprises •    Knowledge of Open Edge/Progress Database or willing to learn these technologies •    Some experience providing technical leadership or mentorship •    Working knowledge of relational database design •    Working knowledge of detailed design tools and methods, including object oriented analysis and design •    Working knowledge of integration methods •    Experience working on medium and large-scale projects in a team environment •    Computer science degree/diploma or equivalent experience •    Must have very good communication skills and able to work independently as well as in a team environment •    Understanding of object oriented concepts and UML notation •    Detail oriented and able to create technical documentation •    Experience with structured systems analysis, design, development and testing methods •    Preferred knowledge of integration and transformation technologies. •    ITIL experience and understanding an asset, including but not limited to Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Configuration Management and Release Management •    Preferred knowledge of integration and transformation technologies Working knowledge of some of the following technologies:     Java     JMS Messaging     Spring Framework     Apache Camel     Groovy/Grails     JAXB     Jasper Reports   In addition to a competitive salary and benefits package, employees share in a company-wide profit sharing plan that recognizes individual and team contributions.
