Halcyon Monitoring Solutions (www.HalcyonInc.com) was founded in 1994, by software engineers at SWI, a market leader in the field of technical risk management software consulting since 1978. The creation of Halcyon resulted from the real-world experience of those engineers in the Brokerage and Nuclear market sectors, who saw the need for proactive mission critical systems monitoring.
Halcyon's technical expertise translated into a high quality software product called PrimeAlert®, an SNMP-compliant intelligent agent framework, which monitors distributed systems running mission critical applications for the UNIX and NT environments.
Working closely with its core clients, Halcyon engineers have identified and refined product development goals that are in precise alignment with client needs for the proactive monitoring of business systems having high availability requirements. This has provided the company with a springboard into the multi-billion dollar Enterprise System Management (ESM) market.
In 1996, Halcyon signed a deal with Sun Microsystems to co-develop SunTM Enterprise SyMON 2.0 based on PrimeAlert technology. Sun Enterprise SyMON was later renamed to Sun Management Center and is Sun's framework for monitoring Sun servers, desktops, storage systems and other software and hardware components.

Halcyon also develops perfect-fit monitoring products leveraging its PrimeAlert agent and framework technology for selected clients on an OEM basis.
