History
Cactus Commerce Inc. is a privately held company, incorporated in 1995. The company?s
experience in B2B e-commerce and enterprise application integration (EAI) dates to 1997,
when Cactus Commerce developed, in collaboration with the Bank of Montreal, a firstgeneration
electronic marketplace system. In the spring of 2000, Cactus began the
development of the Cactus Settlement Server, a B2B payment solution designed entirely for
XML, which completed electronic transactions by supporting online financial settlement.
In August 2000, Cactus started work with one of Microsoft?s server product groups in
Redmond, Washington through which Cactus was involved in the development of Microsoft?s
B2B strategy, using products such as BizTalk Server and Commerce Server. These solutions
enabled suppliers to offer their products, services and catalogues online using XML standards.
In 2004, Cactus delivered Nautilus, a full-service online catering and conference management
system to Compass Group?s Eurest Division. Most recently Microsoft has engaged Cactus in an
exclusive agreement to deliver Cactus GDS Accelerator for BizTalk in order to provide
1SYNC (formerly UCCnet? and Transora) connectivity to retail, consumer goods,
manufacturing and distributor customers running on the Microsoft platform.
Market Overview
In today's global economy, companies are faced with the need to effectively integrate
applications, systems, and technologies from a variety of sources. Redundancy, erroneous
data and slow response to changes in the marketplace are costing companies billions of dollars
annually. According to AT Kearney, a global management consulting firm, $40 billion, or 3.5%
of sales, are lost each year due to supply-chain information inefficiencies.
Supply Chain Management (SCM) encompasses the automated exchange of information
between different organizations such as partners, customers, suppliers and distributors. TPI
enables the creation of truly collaborative business relationships that facilitate real-time
decision-making, accelerated cycle times and better monitoring of business performance
across the value chain.
As organizations are moving away from complex electronic data interchange (EDI)
infrastructures, which use expensive, proprietary networks for integrating with trading
partners, Internet-based technologies are becoming the Enterprise Collaboration & Integration
(ECI) solutions of choice through their ability to deliver all the advantages of EDI at a fraction
of the cost.
