Disk Piracy
Piracy Problem
The CD/DVD and the now HD market is a billion dollar market with disk sales topping $24.3 billion. However, in recent years we have began to see the impact that counterfeiting and digitally pirated discs have had on the overall industry.
From Hollywood studios like Warner Bros, to software giants like Microsoft and EA Sports, industries that use static CD/DVD/HD as a media to store and or distribute their content are affected profoundly by piracy.
The two principal factors behind this continued decline in sales are unabated internet file-swapping and the widespread availability of counterfeit CD/DVDs and now HD discs.
Piracy & Security
Annual losses attributed to Piracy and Illegal File-Swapping:
Video Game & Software Industry: $4+ billion annually
Movie Industry: $4+ billion annually
Music Industry: $4+ billion annually
Biometric security issues for Government Agencies, Businesses, and the Consumer:
Medical Industry: Medical Record Keeping & Data Storage Government & Military: Encrypted High Density Data Storage General Consumer: Secure Data Storage
The Solution
Anti-Piracy Solution
Our core iDisc technology consists of a multi-layer disc-in-disc physical design that is a initial barrier of entry to someone attempting to illegally duplicate content stored on the iDisc. The inner disc, called the solenoid, is custom designed to be the power generation unit of the device. The outer ring, called the plane, contains the custom designed and embedded System-On-Chip (SoC) and an optional Biometric Sensor.
Biometric Security
The iDisc v2.0 with embedded biometric protection is the ultimate portable solution to securely store and protect information utilizing the latest in fingerprint technology. This hybrid optical disc with its secure flash drive storage uses fingerprint recognition to protect data and passwords.
Biometrics is defined as: Any specific and uniquely identifiable physical human characteristic, such as a fingerprint. The iDisc: v2.0 with embedded biometrics is designed to ensure convenience, security and versatility.
How It Works
Step 1
For first time users, simply insert your iDisc: v2.0 into the CD/DVD Rom for power up and enter your password when prompted.
Step 2
The iDisc v2.0 will eject itself from the CD/DVD rom. Without removing the disc from the tray, press/swipe your finger onto the bio-strip sensor, then reinsert your iDisc into the CD/DVD player to be granted access to your stored information.
iDisc can stores thousands of data and music files, graphics, and digital photos ? all secured with fingerprint recognition.
The iDisc: v2.0 RTOS includes password management software, 192-bit TDES encryption, and other proprietary security features.
iDisc represents a novel anti-piracy solution; it cannot be ?burned? or ?ripped? onto another CD/DVD, device or application. There is no data present on the polycarbonate plastic substrata (other than initial auto-run and/or servo telemetry information telling the CD/DVD laser where to position itself).
iDisc: Designed to be a portable hard drive for your computer.
Device Asset Management
iDisc can be shipped with software data stored within its System-on-Chip or as a blank disc.
It is pre-programmed with a variety of advanced device managemant features for CD/DVD ROM control:
Automatic - Low-level Digital Fingerprinting of the CD/DVD Rom drives
Automatic - Dynamic Digital Watermarking of the Software/ Gaming/ Video/ Audio content in real-time as the data is being transferred.
Pre-programmed - ?Time Bomb? of stored digital content.
Each iDisc is unique, containing its own ?IP? and ?MAC? address etched into its microprocessor. This allows the iDisc to be managed across the internet or a local intranet environment.
iDisc is supported with a custom engineered digital library of ?Analog Channel Blocker?- microcontroller code that prevents streamed data coming from the device, from being copied during playback.
The Analog Channel Blocker micro-code governs the movement of audio, video and related data through a host CD/DVD Rom system. iDisc is pre-programmed with the top 10 microcontrollers used in digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and analog-to-digital converter (ADC) units.
iDisc is also supported by an embedded 128/192TDAS and 228Bit hardware encryption; custom hardware LZO compression and sub-channel noise interlaced within its digital signal.
iDisc employs auto-generated web crawlers (Bots) that are designed to search and destroy particular audio / video files if a breach of a device is determined or registered.
These features culminate in our device achieving ?A.I.-like? Anti-Piracy abilities. The addition of such copyright verification mechanisms to our digital audio, video, or gaming signals ensure that a digital file cannot be easily manipulated or stolen.
In the event that one of our devices is tampered with, we have remote access capabilities to update or shutdown the device across the internet.
Digital Rights Management
?SmartApp?
Access to iDisc is governed by a real-time operation system (RTOS) and custom handler application called SmartApp. SmartApp is the ?gooey interface? software application that allows users to connect to an iDisc device it also allows end users to perform secure eCommerce transactions.
iDisc + SmartApp essentially ?takes over? the hard drive, running the key processes related to media play/access for the host system hard drive.
iDisc + SmartApp
SmartApp applications guarantee maximum security of the streaming media being outputted from the iDisc. It serves up content securely and in the best quality the CD/DVD ROM system can handle.
Every time your customers play iDisc the SmartApp code changes in small subtle ways. For example: It is considered dynamical for within the iDisc processor changes are tracked including usage like a digital odometer making ever play/stream uniquely identifiable.
SmartApp is deployed only when the device is being played and content is being accessed. With iDisc + SmartApp, your company can expand its online business by distibuting your content within a CD/DVD/HD compatable platform that allows end users to buy, share, rent or download your software, game, video, audio and related content for storage or playback using iDisc + SmartApp.
Streaming Media Services
As each iDisc contains its own unique IP & Mac address, its acts much like a mini-computer by making each iDisc remotely and uniquely identifiable.
This feature allows you and your customers to benefit from real-time data streaming, cross marketing, advertising opportunities and new audio / video free bees from our other customers directly to the device.
This includes updates and downloads of Audio, Video and Gaming content to be streamed onto the device for later storage/retrieval/transfer by your customers.
Commissions are paid to corporate clients like you.
Subscriber based revenues resulting from these streaming media services will be coming in long after the iDisc is sold to your customer.
Currently, Base of the Bridge is deploying its newly acquired library of more that 1,000 DVD/CD titles as well as leveraging its partnership with Hip Digital Media for new content releases from the ?Big Six? (Sony BMG, EMI Canada, Universal Music Group, Warner Bros, Network Music Group and The Orchard).
This will allow end users to have access to digital download bundles of Music, Video games as well as streaming video media (video-on-demand) packages and more. iDisc + SmartApp enables end users to record and store the downloaded content directly to the iDisc device bypassing the host system local hard drive.

Lab-On-Disc
PBA is a patent pending hybrid disk with an Embedded CMOS
(Complementary Metal-oxide Semiconductor) +
Embedded Organic Microfluidic Crystal
PBA: Lab-On-Disc is customized for applications such as:
Water Essay
Toxicology Testing
Antibodies Testing
Antimicrobial Testing
Molecular Biology
Online clinical Pathology
Parasitological Testing
?.?.and more
The SoC sensor measures nanometer size molecules in the micro-fluidic cavity by utilizing the monochromatic laser beam of a CD/DVD Rom player as a high intensity ?digital microscope?; analyzing blood, salvia and other liquid samples.
PBA employs the dielectrophoresis process in cell/specimen preparation.
Step 1
A specimen sample is placed in the secure organic microfluidic cavity embedded into the disc. The PBA disc is then placed into the end users CD/DVD rom.
Step 2
The CD/DVD rom auto-run command is initiated and the laser turns on; automatically positioning itself underside the disc. First, it goes underneath the inner most part of the disc where software and telemetry information resides on the disc telling the CD/DVD rom servo to further reposition itself under the outer portions of the disc where the embedded CMOS imaging array and the organic microfluidic cavity is located.
The 650 µm laser from your CD/DVD rom focused to 100 µm as it passé through the walls of the microfluidic Crystalline chamber were the dielectrophoresis process occurs
Step 3
The Microfluidic Crystalline cavity is lined with Micro Channels, Filters and layers of Antibodies.
Test Capabilities
PBA Lab-On-Disc allows for a number of biological testing capabilities that can be broken down into three categories:
1.Human Health Risk Analyses: Consists of functional and/or metabolic efficiency of an organism/specimen at both the micro (cellular) and macro (social) level. The category would include the testing of consumable foods.
2.Animal Health Risk Analyses: Consists of disease risk analyses in live stock, hazardous identification of molecules in feed, qualitative and quantitative risk management and real time communication.
3.Environmental Risk Analysis: PBA can analyze and identify hazardous molecules in water and soil samples.
Imagine a device that utilizes the pre-existing 400nm ? 750nm laser found in your CD/DVD rom optical system as hi-resolution scanner. The nanometer (µm) beam is positioned to penetrate our devices micro fluidic sensor cavity. Acting much like a prism, the beam is further focused and bent through the micro fluidic sensor and specimen sample.
Image information is captured and sent in real-time to the adjacent CMOS microprocessor unit. The image data is then processed, communicating the results of the centrifugal force acting on the bio-sample located within the 1.2 ? 1.7 mm thick micro fluidic cavity to your PC. A software interface establishes a secure connection to the BBT Toxicology database for results interpretation.
PBA collects real-time data on how materials and other hazardous substances came into contact with humans, how they move into and through the body, how they are transformed in the body and how they ultimately affect the health of people.
Used within a computer and via the internet, the PBA connects with toxicology databases (the Google of toxins) for sample identification and analyses. The results are streamed back in real-time to the user.
Our System-on-Chip design, coupled with a custom micro-fluidic sensor, converts a sample of a proteins? unique identifier into digital ?ones? and ?zeros.?
The microprocessor is pre-programmed to compute molecular geometric recognition of data instead of music, sourcing a toxicology database instead of an album inventory.
System-on-Chip
Our proprietary CMOS imaging array is a monolithic System-on-Chip coupled to an adjacent, organic/inorganic opto-chemically sensitive Micro-fluidic sensor. The Micro-fluidic component is hot swappable.
A unique aspect of the PBA is that the device requires no batteries*; the independent oscillating parts of the disc-in-disc design provide the necessary electro-static frictional power to run the embedded electronic components.
Chrysalis Cavity
Organic/Inorganic fabrication of the micro-fluidic sensor, PBA is on the for front of the paradigm shift, over taking the healthcare model at a global level. Moving from merely therapeutic, to a preventive and predictive model on an individual basis, the result will be effective, personalized, and safe and cost-effective therapy, better diagnosis and treatment outcomes, and patient satisfaction.
Enabling this will require a thorough understanding of the pathological processes underlying the human biological system, and technologies such as PBA: microfluidics Lab-On-Disc can facilitate the process of studying in vivo physiological conditions and other medial diagnostic medicine.
Data Mining
PBA health statistics and data management application is an automated data mining algorithm that allows for the collection and correlation of large amounts of device usage data. The PBA backend analyzes information from data collection; preparing reports that contain tabulations of a patients genetic, pathogen, and disease marker data. The resulting statistical reports are delivered to government health agencies and other requesting organizations.
We can update the surveillance software of the PBA device remotely. Diagnostic measurements are intended to cover four general areas:
Health related behaviors such as smoking, physical activity, fruit and vegetable consumption and access to and use of health care;
Prevalence of chronic diseases not measured elsewhere such as asthma, heart disease, diabetes and arthritis;
Public awareness and perception of important health issues such as cancer screening, hypertension and cholesterol control, HIV education and radon exposure; and
Demographic and socioeconomic information such as sex, race, age, education and income.
Bio-Analytical Focus
Given the incidence of pet and human food scares in the mass media, we have decided to initially focus our PBA product towards testing for the most common bacterial strains affecting critical food supplies.
Identification of anti-microbial strains that threaten such food suppliers as dairy, fish, poultry and produce farmers will be our primary concern.
From analyzing our water supply to the foods that we eat and the medicinal drugs we take, the PBA device will be an essential tool for consumers who are concerned about the health of the environment and their body.
Medical Device Market
Developing countries (Particularly India & China) have much more potential than the developed countries in terms of growth. The quantities and quality of the medical devices in these countries remain far below the standard of the advanced countries. Given their increasing economic power and per capita incomes, these countries will become strong sources of demand in the future. In China, the medical device market was valued at RMB239.3 billion in 2001, an increased of over 108% from 1996. Further growth is expected to see this market reach RMB894.2 billion by 2011.
Competition
iDISC Competition
Conventional static media formats like Sony's? ?Blu-Ray? and Toshibas? ?HD-DVD? disk-based storage devices.
Emerging portable digital device technology such as the Apple ?iPod?, and the Microsoft? ?Zune?.
