D.R. systems inc. is a team of highly qualified forestry consultants, GIS analysts and software developers, with offices in Nanaimo, B.C. and Enumclaw, Washington. Dr. Don Reimer, a highly respected expert in forest biometrics and forest management planning, founded the company in 1983. He and our four Senior Consultants together have almost 100 years of forest industry experience. Our clients include forest companies, forestry consultants and contractors, private landholders, lawyers, management consulting firms and government agencies.
D.R. systems helps forest industry clients improve the profitability and sustainability of their woodlands. We do this in two fundamental ways:
- We help them value their forest asset properly in today’s complex environment.
- We help to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their people in managing this dynamic asset.
To accomplish this, we have three aspects to our business:
- Forestry Consulting – We specialize in:
- Economic Analysis (from timber valuation on small private woodlots, through tax, investment and legal valuations on large industrial parcels, to complex investment and policy analyses involving millions of acres)
- Growth and Yield Analysis and Program Development
- Habitat Conservation Planning
- Sustainable Forest Management Planning and Monitoring
- A highly skilled technical staff and state of the art software tools support our consultants in this work. In particular, our OPTIONS Forest Estate Modeling System gives us an ability to deal effectively with a range of forest management issues that is unique in the industry.
- Custom Software and Systems Integration – We develop "industrial strength" systems to help forestry personnel manage the forest resource more effectively. These systems range from relatively simple database applications to large multi-division systems, involving integrating GIS, image analysis and other third party products. Our Application Framework (AFW) enables us to create applications quickly and efficiently.
- Forestry Software Products – We have developed a number of "off the shelf " products for foresters, including the industry leading Phoenix Silviculture Records Management System and the EcoSoft line of handheld data collection software.
