"We are pleased and proud to be chosen by OpenSky to be their technology provider and to be providing the latest network solution for this exciting new digital cinema project," said IDC chief executive Ron Clifton in a statement. "OpenSky is an industry leader and has a reputation for excellence and quality of service." As part of the MOU, IDC said OpenSky has made an initial order of uplink broadcast equipment and has deployed IDC's satellite receivers to multiple theatres across Italy, as the first step towards a continent-wide digital cinema distribution network. The company added that OpenSky is also using the IDC solution in a European Space Agency project focused on electronic and digital cinema distribution.
