Absolute Software Announces State-Wide Purchasing Contract with State of GeorgiaFirst state-wide purchase contract for Computrace, covering 35 universities, 29,000 staff, 11,000 faculty members and other Georgia State agencies; negotiations underway to extend coverage to 260,000 students across GeorgiaVANCOUVER, Aug. 1 - Absolute Software Corporation ("Absolute"), the leading provider of firmware-based, patented Computer Theft Recovery, Data Protection and Secure Asset Tracking solutions announced that the State of Georgia has signed a state-wide purchase contract with Absolute to encourage and enable state agencies and universities to acquire Absolute's Computrace solutions at a volume discount as part of their "Securing Sensitive Data" initiative. The purchasing contract was negotiated with the Information Technology Contracts and Licensing Administration, a unit within the Office of the Chief Information Officer, in cooperation with the Chief Information Security Officer at the University of Georgia at Athens (UGA) and the UGA Procurement Office. "We consider this agreement to be a testament to the leadership and commitment of the State of Georgia and its agencies to help protect its employees and residents from mounting computer and data security threats," said John Livingston, Chairman and CEO of Absolute Software. "The goal for this agreement is to provide coverage for 35 universities in Georgia representing over 260,000 students, 29,000 staff and 11,000 faculty members, as well as other State agencies in Georgia, and will serve as a template to pursue similar contracts in other states."
