Synetic Inc. Releases Windows Storage Server 2003 NAS / iSCSI unit

The SyneNAS-410 SA has been specifically designed to support organisations working in a networked, multi-server environment. The SyneNAS-410 SA base unit is powered by a P4 - 3 GHZ processor (upgradeable to 3.4 GHZ) supporting 4 hot swappable SATA hard disk slots, with RAID 0, 1, 5 and JBOD disk volume configuration, 2 built-in Gigabit network ports, and a SCSI interface for storage expansion up to 8TB, all contained within a compact 1U form factor. Building on this platform, the SyneNAS-410 SA offers the following innovative features:

- Unique to the SyneNAS-410 SA is Synetic's proprietary iSCSI software, enabling the unit to support both iSCSI / SAN and NAS architectures simultaneously. As a result, the SyneNAS-410 SA is also able to offer remote replication and failover capacity.

- The SyneNAS-410 SA offers a totally modular, cable-less design, allowing for the rapid replacement of components, reducing downtime in the operating environment.

The unit is so accessible that the system administrator can configure and manage the system via any browser and users can access their files via a web interface. The SyneNAS-410 SA enables users to take advantage of all the exceptional Windows Storage Server 2003 features, including Volume Shadow Copy Service, Virtual Disk Service, Distributed File System and Active Directory Services.
