Announces Free Cloud-Based Open Source License Management Solution ProtecodeCloud Complimentary
Enables Efficient Access to List of Open Source Licenses and Copyrights
in Software Portfolios
OTTAWA,
CANADA & SAN DIEGO, CA – August 29, 2012 – Protecode, a leading provider of open source
compliance solutions, today announced a free version of its popular hosted
open source scanning and license management solution at the inaugural CloudOpen conference,
co-located with LinuxCon, August 29-31, in San Diego, CA.
ProtecodeCloud
ComplimentaryTM
is a Software as a Service (SaaS) code scanning tool that allows organizations to
uncover open source and third party content in their code. Because it is a
hosted solution, there is no software to install or update. ProtecodeCloud Complimentary is ideally suited to
any size organization, especially those that are already developing software in
the cloud.
Organizations
can sign up through Protecode’s secure website at www.protecode.com, and will be given seven day
access to ProtecodeCloud to scan their code and obtain a list of all
open source licenses and copyrights in their code portfolio. Additional detailed
reports can be obtained by signing up for one of the paid editions, ProtecodeCloud Professional or Premium.
“Linux
and open source software components are pervasive in new product development
across market segments. With many organizations now developing software for the
cloud, it makes sense for them to be able to manage license compliance in the
cloud as well,” said Amanda McPherson, vice president of marketing and
developer services, The Linux Foundation.
Protecode
will showcase its open source compliance solutions in booth #104 at CloudOpen. Additionally,
Protecode COO Kamyar Emami will present on the topic of “Leveraging
Open Source in Cloud Based Applications” on Friday, August 31 from 3:05-3:50pm.
Protecode
also announced support for the
Software Package Data Exchange (SPDX) standard, version 1.1 across all of
its products. Protecode is a member of the SPDX work group, sponsored by the
Linux Foundation, helping to drive innovation in open source compliance
standards.
